Due to the number of rows, cylindrical roller bearings are divided into single-row and double-row.

Single row cylindrical roller bearings are separable, which facilitates their assembly and disassembly. Both rings can fit tightly. In order to eliminate edge stresses, a modified line contact is used between rollers and raceways which prevents edge stresses and allows for some angular deflection.
With the load ratio P / C = 0.2, the deflection angle is 4 minutes of arc, where "P" is the dynamic equivalent load [kN] and "C" is the dynamic load capacity [kN]. Single row cylindrical roller bearings are also available without a cage, they are used for extremely high loads at moderate rotational speeds.

Double row cylindrical roller bearings are floating bearings, their separability facilitates assembly and disassembly. Both bearing rings can fit tightly. Bearings with a tapered bore are mainly used to radially support the main spindles in machine tools. In addition to very high radial loads and axial loads in both directions, they also absorb tipping moments. Double row cylindrical roller bearings are also available without a cage, they are used as fixed bearings.
