Thrust cylindrical roller bearings (thrust) are characterized by high stiffness, load capacity and impact resistance. These bearings absorb very high axial loads in one direction, but do not absorb any radial loads. Cylindrical roller bearings do not have the ability to self-align, they are not adapted to angular deflections. They are used primarily in bearing arrangements where the load capacity of thrust ball bearings is insufficient.
The thrust cylindrical roller bearings are structurally very simple, they consist of an inner ring mounted on the shaft, an outer ring embedded in the housing and a cage with a set of rollers. However, other combinations or uses of the abutment cylinder assembly alone are possible.
