Thrust ball bearings (thrust ball bearings) come in single-direction and double-direction versions. These bearings absorb large axial forces, but cannot be loaded radially.

Single direction thrust ball bearings
They consist of one inner ring, which is mounted on the shaft, and one outer ring, which is mounted in the housing with a cage with balls. Thrust ball bearings of this design can only support axial loads in one direction, while radial loads are unacceptable.
Double direction thrust ball bearings
They consist of one inner ring mounted on the shaft, two outer rings mounted in the housing (flat or spherical seating surface) and two cages with balls.
Thrust ball bearings of this design can carry axial loads in both directions, but radial loads are unacceptable. In addition to the version in which the outer ring has a flat thrust face, there are also thrust ball bearings with spherical outer rings and spherical washers.
