Electrically insulated rolling bearings have integrated electrical insulation and provide reliable protection against current flow and electrical corrosion. Insulated bearings are typically used in electric motors, generators, and other electrical equipment.
Electrical voltage may arise in a rolling bearing between the outer and inner rings, causing electrical discharges to occur in the contact area between the rolling elements and the surface of the inner or outer ring.
The current flow can damage the rolling surfaces of the bearing and deteriorate the rolling parameters. The flowing current also destroys the lubricant.
The flow of electric current through the rolling bearings used in electric motors can be prevented by using bearings with an insulating layer.
