Self-aligning ball bearings consist of two rows of balls located in the center of the spherical raceway of the outer ring. The rings have the ability to freely position themselves in relation to each other, which is equal to the resistance to misalignment of the housings and deflection of the shafts. When choosing the width of the bearing, it is necessary to take into account the load to which it will be exposed during operation.
The greater the load, the wider the bearing. Most often they are made of steel, while the baskets are made of steel, brass and various types of thermoplastics. In higher accuracy classes, self-aligning bearings can be with increased or decreased clearance, which enables use in many industries.
