Igus GmbH is a German manufacturer of cables, wires and linear guide systems, polymer plain bearings and polymer articulated bearings.
The igus company was founded on October 15, 1964 in Cologne-Mülheim. For the first twenty years, the company supplied polymer components for technical applications. In 1983, Frank Blase launched his own product lines: energy chains and polymer bearings. Between 1985 and 2015, igus expanded its business dynamically and increased its staff from 40 to over 2,700.
igus calls injection-molded polymers tribopolymers - tribologically optimized material mixtures that are abrasion-resistant, long-lasting and form the basis of all igus products and systems.
