We present a case study of DA0116RC - a fantastic guide with improved load capacity of up to 600 kg!

Accuride DA0116 - The best way to move a one-ton gantry crane.

Heavy duty linear guides

Whether it's one of its reliable linear guides or its popular ball bearing guides, Accuride isn't afraid to use its own products. Therefore, when it was necessary to improve the travel of a mobile gantry crane in the assembly room, Accuride engineers used the DA0116 heavy-duty linear guide.

Strong enough to support over 1000 kg!

This durable linear guide has recently undergone numerous tests, as a result of which its average load capacity is estimated at 600 kg, which is twice as much as previously declared. This makes it one of the most powerful products that Accuride has in its offer. Additionally, when mounted flat and using multiple trolleys, this impressive heavy-duty linear rail system can support over 1,000 kg. This is because the load capacity of the linear guide system will depend on the method of installation and the number of trolleys used.

Testing

In order to ensure the declared parameters, all guides are tested in a number of different applications. During testing, ball bearing guides or linear guides are spaced 450 mm apart and the load is placed midway between them. The test rig is then cycled and  Accuride engineers perform the necessary travel checks. Some of Accuride's products, such as the heavy-duty DA0116 slide featured here, can support loads of up to 600 kg, and the engineering team uses a portable overhead crane to safely lift and transfer the weight to the test stand.

The portable crane system was originally based on caster wheels, but to make moving the gantry crane much easier, engineers replaced the wheels. linear guide 0116. The mobile gantry crane weighs approximately 200 kg, so it was important that the linear track was able to support both this weight and the 1000 kg weight that the crane could lift.

To safely support the 1,200 kg weight, our engineering team used a total of eight trolleys and two tracks.

More security and stability

Casers, commonly used in shopping carts and hospital beds, are often difficult to control and do not move smoothly or straight, which resulted in the need for a portable, caster-based crane to move two people. The use of a durable 0116 linear guide significantly reduces the force needed to move the crane, so now only one person is needed.

In the video above, a representative of the Accuride engineering team moves a gantry crane weighing 1,000 kg! Its pressing force during this test is only 200 N, which corresponds to the force needed to move a load of 20 kg.

Safety has always been an extremely important aspect of Accuride's designs and products. Heavy-duty floor-mounted guides make the gantry crane much safer to use because it is much closer to the floor, significantly reducing the risk of the entire system tipping over.

If you have a complex application that requires high precision and smooth movement, as well as high load capacities, contact Albeco to learn about Accuride's capabilities.
